Incremental Progress and Improvement Plan (IPIP) is a practical strategy for strengthening team efficacy and turning long-term goals into consistent, measurable progress. Rather than relying on five-year strategic plans that can become outdated—or sit untouched until the fourth year—IPIP focuses on shorter, fluid planning cycles that keep individuals and teams engaged, accountable, and moving forward.
The IPIP approach uses short-term goals to create manageable steps toward larger individual, team, and organizational objectives. Each planning cycle provides an opportunity to assess progress, celebrate accomplishments, identify barriers, adjust strategies, and establish the next set of priorities.
Participants learn how to break complex long-term goals into actionable short-term objectives, align individual contributions with team priorities, and continuously adapt plans as needs and circumstances change. By creating a rhythm of planning, action, assessment, and improvement, teams can maintain momentum while remaining responsive and focused on meaningful outcomes.
IPIP shifts the question from “Where do we want to be five years from now?” to “What can we accomplish in the next 30, 60, or 90 days that moves us closer to where we want to be?”
Through incremental progress, organizations can build stronger accountability, improve team efficacy, and make long-term goals more achievable—one focused planning cycle at a time.
